Arc of Horry gears up to take over Champion Autism Network’s sensory-friendly events

CONWAY, S.C. (WBTW) –The Champion Autism Network strived for the past decade to make Horry County more inclusive for those with autism, but with the group announcing plans to close in June, another non-profit is ready to make sure that work doesn’t stop.

CAN was formed in 2016 and spent the last decade hosting sensory-friendly events. The group was was instrumental in making Surfside Beach the first autism-friendly travel destination.

Since forming last year, the Arc of Horry has served as an advocate for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Arc and CAN had formed a partnership because of their shared focus on inclusivity…
