HORRY COUNTY S.C. (WPDE) — Several Horry County vehicles are now alerting drivers through GPS when responding to a nearby emergency. The alert system allows fire vehicles to give drivers a heads-up before you even see or hear them.
In June, North Myrtle Beach Fire Rescue received alert systems that will be integrated into each firetruck. It invested in the technology when it bought new trucks. HAAS, the company partnering with firetruck manufacturer Pierce, created the alert system four years ago.
