Could Downtown Flavortown be start of Myrtle Beach Mall’s rebirth? What’s coming next

Myrtle Beach Mall has experienced a loss of tenants, declining foot traffic and the dreaded label of being a “dead mall” for two decades.

Now, the mall has a new owner, FACE Amusement, which is working to change the perception of this longtime Grand Strand shopping center. Its first step was the June opening of Downtown Flavortown — a restaurant, arcade and bowling alley from celebrity chef Guy Fieri — as an anchor for the mal.

Downtown Flavortown comes at a critical time for Myrtle Beach Mall — the mall has less than a dozen retail stores, along with only a few food spots, and most shoppers are opting for newer and bigger nearby shopping centers…
