Swimmer bitten by shark on Grand Strand beach. What we know

A person was bitten Wednesday by what is believed to be a small shark in Garden City.

The person had puncture wounds on their leg and bystanders applied a tourniquet to the swimmer’s leg before Murrells Inlet Garden City Fire Rescue responded and reapplied another tourniquet to help stop the bleeding, according to Murrells Inlet Garden City Fire Rescue Assistant Chief of Training and Operations Brennan Moore.

The bite occurred just above the ankle and the person was taken to the hospital, Moore said…
