Fifty songwriters, including one who has written for Willie Nelson and Kenney Chesney and another multi-award winner who has showcased his original music at the Grand Ole Opry, will perform at the inaugural Myrtle Beach Songwriters Festival Nov. 13-14 in downtown Myrtle Beach.
The line-up includes songwriters from the Myrtle Beach area as well as artists from 37 states, including California, Colorado, New Jersey and Kentucky. The participants were selected from more than 300 entries and represent country, blues, beach, jazz and other genres of music.
Performances will take place at seven venues, all within walking distance of each other. They include Grand Strand Brewing Company (indoor and outdoor stages), Fresh Brewed Coffee House, Winna’s Kitchen, The Tasting Room on 9th, The Dolly Llama, and First Methodist Church of Myrtle Beach, which will host a Kids Corner.
“It’s important to have every ladder of what it is to be a songwriter,” said Melissa Joiner, a local songwriter and touring musician whose Songs That Save Foundation is hosting the event.
