HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) -A South Carolina farmer says this summer’s drought has caused her to lose many crops, including potatoes and peppers.
Sallie Lun, a farmer at Indigo Farms, said the lack of rain left the ground too dry to sustain some plantings.
“The ground was so dry that it took moisture from the surrounding areas and away from the plant root,” Lun said. “So, it made it a very very, nearly impossible season to grow. We lost cover crops, and entire planting. It could not grow because it had no rain.”
