MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – We are turning the calendar to September this week, and the summer heat is making a strong comeback. After a cloudy and gloomy weekend, high pressure is building across the Grand Strand and Pee Dee, bringing back the sunshine but also driving up our temperatures and humidity.
Today
Sunshine returns today, with temperatures warming into the mid-80s across the Grand Strand. As you move inland, expect temperatures to climb near 90.
We’ll keep the risk of a couple showers and storms this afternoon, mainly isolated during the peak heating of the day.
Through the Week
A strong area of high pressure currently over Tennessee and Kentucky will slowly slide eastward, settling directly over the Carolinas by Thursday.
This system alone will bring drier air aloft, limiting the amount of showers and storms through the middle of the work week.
Temperatures will climb into the upper 80s to near 90 for the beaches. Inland, temperatures climb into the middle 90s by the end of the week.
By the end of the week, we will see widespread heat index values climbing between 105 and 110 degrees.
Labor Day Weekend
The holiday week looks to start warm and humid for the first half of the weekend. Temperatures will reach the low-to-mid 90s on Saturday before an approaching weak front aims at the Carolinas…
