MARION COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A Marion County wildfire that has spewed smoke and ash into neighboring Horry County this week had covered roughly 1,750 acres as of Tuesday afternoon, according to the South Carolina Forestry Commission.
The Marion-Woodburry Road fire remained only 60% contained as of Tuesday afternoon, the Forestry Commission said. Thick smoke was evident in Conway and other parts of Horry County throughout the day.
Horry County Fire Rescue posted about smoke from the fire on Monday, saying it was coming from across the Little Pee Dee River from Horry County’s Punch Bowl Landing. People who commented about the fire on the agency’s Facebook post said they have had to close the windows of their homes to keep out the smoke. Another person said the smell was “pungent.”…
