MARION COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — A wildfire in Marion County broke containment after backburning operations got out of control on Monday night, sharply expanding the blaze and worsening smoke conditions across parts of Horry County.
The Marion-Woodbury Road fire is now 60% contained, down from 100%, and has grown from 200 acres to 1,750 acres.
The South Carolina Forestry Commission is working to contain the fire. Smoke has been heavy in many areas of Horry County and is expected to remain an issue for days to come…
