‘Unforgivable’: Mica Miller’s sister chides SC lawmakers for delaying coercive control bill

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WBTW) — Almost two years to the day that Mica Miller’s life ended at a Robeson County state park, her sister told South Carolina lawmakers they could have helped prevent tragedy.

“Mica did what we are all told to do in abusive situations, but was failed time after time,” Abigail Francis told a state Senate Judiciary subcommittee on Wednesday as the latest effort to criminalize coercive control began.

“The lack of accountability over the years allowing this bill to lapse was detrimental and unforgivable, as this could have saved our sister’s life,” Francis said. “We implore you take a stand and save the lives of those who are in need at this very moment.”…
