‘Danger to society’: Family of man killed in Highway 90 road-rage shooting relieved after suspect denied bond by Horry County judge

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — The family of a man who was shot and killed during a January road-rage incident along Highway 90 expressed relief after his alleged killer was denied bond during a hearing in Horry County Circuit Court on Thursday.

Elijaih Thurman Taylor, 23, of Nakina, North Carolina, has been in the J. Reuben Long Detention Center since the Jan. 6 incident near Star Bluff and Long Bay roads that ended with the death of 33-year-old Paul Jones Greenwood of Nichols. He’s charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Greenwood was killed along the highway following a crash and an altercation that escalated into the shooting. A witness involved in the crash told News13 that Greenwood was driving a white pickup truck that “accidentally” veered and hit two other vehicles.
