Horry County school’s robotics team to compete at world championship

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — An Horry County school’s robotics team is making history, taking its award-winning robot to the World Robotics Championship for the first time in almost 10 years.

The Academy for the Arts, Science & Technology’s Aluminum Assault Team 1287 will compete in Houston, Texas, from Wednesday through May 2.

“We get to do this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” team captain Rachael Hitt said. “We get to go and see all the other really cool robots there and just get this great STEM experience.”…
