Another hot day, isolated showers and thunderstorms possible

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) – The area will see another hot day. Temperatures will warm quickly into the mid to upper 80s, with a few locations reaching 90 degrees this afternoon in the inland areas. Along the coast, temperature will reach the upper 70s to low 80s before the sea breeze kicks in over the afternoon hours. Along the sea breeze it is possible that a few isolated showers or thunderstorms could pulse up in central Horry, Georgetown, and Marion Counties. We continue to hang onto a increased fire danger for the area today.

Overnight into Sunday we will see our first shot of seeing widespread rain and thunderstorms. A cold front will move towards the area. That will generate the chance of seeing some showers and thunderstorms develop. Rainfall chances are moderate, but the accumulation is nothing to be impressed with. A few locations may get lucky and see between 1/4 – 1/2″ but most of the area sees only up to 1/4″, this will really just knock the dust down, and not do much for our chances of breaking the drought. Sundays highs will be in the mid to upper 70s, with a few locations inland reaching 80.

Monday will be a cooler day with highs only managing to reach the low 70s. It will be breezy, and low humidity, so fire concerns will quickly be back. They will last through the week. We will be more normal next week with highs reaching the mid to upper 70s across the area, and a small chance of seeing another chance of rain Wednesday into Thursday morning…
