Man accused of trying to fraudulently withdraw $68,000 from Pawleys Island-area bank

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A man is facing charges after he allegedly tried to fraudulently withdraw thousands of dollars from a Pawleys Island-area bank.

The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office charged Randy Mikels, 54, with identity theft and attempting to obtain property by false pretense.

Mikels’ charges stem from an allegation that he attempted to fraudulently withdraw $68,000 from Truist Bank.

Mikels then tried again in Robeson County, North Carolina, attempting to fraudulently withdraw $39,000 at another Truist Bank, which led to his April 20 arrest, the sheriff’s office said…
