Five people arrested and charged in drug trafficking investigations

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office announced its Vice and Narcotics Unit has made multiple arrests following several investigations into drug activity.

On May 6, deputies arrested Peter Matthew Raths, 52, of Greenbriar Road in Supply, and Janis Elizabeth Whittlesey, 55, of Hotshot Road in Little River, South Carolina.

They are charged with:

  • Three counts of trafficking in methamphetamine.
  • Possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a Schedule II controlled substance.
  • Maintaining a vehicle, dwelling or place for a controlled substance.
  • Conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine.
  • Selling a Schedule II controlled substance.
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia.

On May 7, deputies arrested Robert Wayne Powell, 51, of Green Swamp Road in Supply. He is charged with:

  • Possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a Schedule I controlled substance.
  • Maintaining a vehicle, dwelling or place for a controlled substance.
  • Two counts of trafficking in fentanyl.
  • Felony conspiracy.
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia.
