On June 4, 2026, at 8:46 p.m., officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of the 300 block of North Broadway Street at the Riverwalk Homes apartment complex.
Upon arrival, officers encountered a large crowd gathered outside the apartment complex, with multiple individuals actively fighting. Officers immediately began working to disperse the crowd and de-escalate the disturbance; however, several individuals continued fighting and resisted officers’ efforts to restore order. During the incident, Steven Brown (33, Joliet) was taken into custody after allegedly resisting officers’ attempts to place him under arrest.
