Just after 5 a.m. on June 9, Forest Park police were dispatched to help Oak Park police with a burglary that had just occurred in the 800 block of Maple in Oak Park. Forest Park police found a suspect matching the given description of the burglar near Elgin and Jackson. When police turned on their emergency lights, the pursued woman threw a vacuum and soccer ball she was carrying into bushes and started running. Police caught her and reported that she had a deep laceration on her wrist. Oak Park police took the woman into custody and transported her to Loyola Hospital. Forest Park police followed a blood trail to the 600 block of Elgin, where they found a shattered basement window at a residence. The resident wished to sign complaints against the woman, who police determined was a missing person suffering from a possible mental health crisis when she disappeared earlier this month. Police suggested that, because the woman required surgery and further medical and mental health care, the resident should delay criminal charges against her, since they could be filed later.
