Father charged with murder of wife, 3 daughters in Tinley Park

TINLEY PARK, Ill. — A man has been charged with murder after the fatal shooting of his wife and three daughters in a domestic-related incident in Tinley Park Sunday morning.

The Cook County State’s Office charged 63-year-old Maher Kassem with four counts of first-degree murder.

Police said during a verbal argument, Kassem allegedly shot his wife and three adult daughters. He then contacted authorities shortly after requesting police presence and saying someone was shot.

Officers responded around 11:30 a.m. Sunday to the Tinley Park home in the 7400 block of 173rd Place and discovered four women shot and killed.

The medical examiner has identified the four women killed as 53-year-old Majeda Kassem and her three daughters, 25-year-old Halema Kassem, 25-year-old Zahia Kassem and 24-year-old Hanan Kassem. All were found with gunshot wounds.

Kassem was found inside the home was taken into custody. Police said a gun was recovered at the scene.
