Caleb Williams is Finding Out What Justin Fields Already Knows

Three years ago, the Chicago Bears traded up to select quarterback Justin Fields in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, hoping they’d finally found their elusive franchise quarterback after decades of searching.

Things didn’t quite work out for Fields in Chicago, and there’s plenty of blame to go around when it comes to the causes. Fields was shipped to the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason for peanuts, clearing the way for the Bears to spend this year’s No. 1 overall pick on USC star and Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams.

After a forgettable regular-season debut last week against the Tennessee Titans in which he passed for just 93 yards, Williams struggled yet again Sunday night in front of a national audience as they Bears fell 19-13 to the Houston Texans on the road.

While much was made about the weapons the Bears added this offseason to help Williams succeed in his rookie season, the team’s biggest problems were still lurking in the offensive trenches, and they were painfully evident Sunday night:
