Brookfield police arrested a 30-year-old Chicago man for driving under the influence on April 18.
An officer was on routine patrol around 2:50 a.m. when they noticed a vehicle heading west on Burlington Avenue that did not have its headlamps activated and was moving into the oncoming traffic lane. After the officer made a U-turn in their squad car to pull the car over, its headlamps turned on as it turned north onto Maple Avenue.
The officer watched the driver turn too sharply and cause the vehicle to enter the parking lane, where it nearly missed a parked car before returning to the driving lane. Then, the car braked sharply before reaccelerating, again drifting into the parking lane and narrowly missing a second vehicle. The car drifted from left to right within the driving lane before crossing the center median and then drifting into the parking lane for a third time…
