PILSEN – When Pilsen neighbors walk through the door of La Casa del Pueblo Taqueria, they’re greeted by the smell of some of their favorite Mexican dishes and restaurant bestsellers: papas con huevo, menudo, queso con rajas, barbacoa and tamales.
For years, the restaurant has served Pilsen neighbors at 1834 S. Blue Island Ave., next to a supermarket with a similar name, but different owners, according to business records.
But the family-run restaurant is set to close in late summer or early fall, said Jorge Arturo Haro Hernandez, the manager and son of one of its founders. La Casa del Pueblo Taqueria will reopen in Berwyn at a warehouse where Haro Hernandez planned to expand its tamale production…
