Charges Upgraded To First Degree Murder For Man Accused Of Shooting A Joliet Man In His Yard

The Joliet Police Department has been notified by the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office that Willis Ellis has been charged with three counts of First Degree Murder following a court appearance earlier today.##

On May 8, 2026, at 4:38 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of Nicholson Street for a report of a man who had been shot. Officers located a 60-year-old man in the front yard who had sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Officers immediately rendered medical aid until Joliet Fire Department paramedics arrived.
