Brookfield police on May 11 ticketed a 39-year-old North Riverside man after they learned his car’s license plates had expired.
Around 11 a.m., an officer was driving behind a white car while on patrol and discovered the car’s license plates and registration had been suspended previously due to a lack of mandatory insurance. The officer pulled the car over at the intersection of Arthur and Garfield avenues and spoke to the driver, who provided a driver’s license but could not provide proof of insurance on the vehicle. The officer ran the man’s license and learned it had expired in 2024.
The officer told the man the car would need to be administratively towed, but the man said his passenger had a valid license and could take possession of the vehicle. The officer observed the passenger to have bloodshot eyes and thought he may have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The passenger explained he had just woken up and agreed to take standardized field testing, which showed the officer he was not under the influence…
