It’s a bit humorous that some of the most traditional and authentic Mexican cuisine to be found in the county is served amid paintings of Old English fox hunts and Tower of London guards. Maria’s Restaurant opened in this former pub in 1992, and the owners simply layered some sombreros and Mexican craftwork upon the walls alongside the existing dining room paintings, lending a whimsy to the decor. Since Maria’s tends to be a downtown Bonita late-night hotspot with a full bar plus live music on the weekends, it’s refreshing to be able to just stroll in and get a table at dinnertime, when other restaurants are waitlisting…
