Marco Island hosts 9/11 Naples Memorial Stair Climb
This fifth year of the annual Naples Memorial Stair Climb is held by Hilton Marco Island, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 13 for a venue change of the year. Hilton Marco Island Beach Resort and Spa, 560 S. Collier Blvd., Marco Island, honors lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001 with the annual Stair Climb event where participants climb the equivalent of 110 flights, the height of the Twin Towers, in honor of the civilians, workers and emergency responders, including firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel and others, who lost their lives.
Check-in begins at 7 a.m., followed by an opening ceremony at 8 a.m. The climb begins at 8:46 a.m., marking the time American Airlines Flight 11 struck the North Tower.
