As we continue our Women in Medicine series, I am honored to highlight two physicians working at the heart of medicine inside the hospital.
Hospital medicine is deeply personal to me. I have practiced medicine for 26 years and was among the early physicians to enter the growing field of hospital medicine. When I began, hospitalists were still establishing their place within health care. Today, we are central to the care patients receive during some of the most serious and vulnerable moments of their lives.
I have spent much of my career practicing hospital medicine at Naples Comprehensive Health. My love for the field has also led me to advocate for patients and physicians through leadership. I currently serve as chair of the Hospitalist Quality and Process Improvement Committee and as the first female chair of the Department of Medicine.
