NAPLES, Fla. — Naples Zoo announced on Friday that a new arrival came just in time to celebrate Mother’s Day weekend. A toco toucan chick was born on April 6.
The chick, named Mango, was born to male toucan Manu and female toucan Macy. Manu came to Naples Zoo from San Diego Zoo, and was paired with Macy, who is a first-time mother.
“We are thrilled to celebrate the first-ever toucan chick hatch at Naples Zoo,” said Robin Ryan, Animal Operations Manager for Naples Zoo. “Manu quickly stepped into his role as an attentive parent while Macy adjusted to her new responsibilities. Toucan chicks depend on both parents during their first few months.”…
