Tennessee emergency rooms see surge in tick bites, severe reactions

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — One of summer’s tiniest threats is sending more Tennesseans to the emergency room.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there have been 26 reported ER visits due to tick bites in the Southeast, including Tennessee, so far this year — up from last year’s 23 visits.

Nurses at the TriStar Bellevue Emergency Room told News 2 they’ve not only seen a surge in tick patients this year, but also patients with more severe reactions to tick bites…
