TENNESSEE — Twelve people, including seven teenagers, were arrested during a Street Racer Initiative conducted Saturday night by the Metro Nashville Police Department.
According to police, investigators tracked known street racing groups to South Nashville, where vehicles had gathered to perform dangerous driving stunts and set off fireworks. The operation resulted in 12 arrests on a total of 47 charges.
Officers first responded to a group near Antioch Pike and Haystack Lane, where a passenger was reportedly hanging out of a moving Ford Mustang. Police said the Mustang fled an attempted traffic stop and was later found on Bell Road near Smith Springs Road performing donuts and shooting fireworks from the vehicle.
