Mayor O’Connell files eminent domain legislation to stop data center near Nashville Zoo

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell has filed eminent domain legislation that would allow the city to takeover the property where a data center is planned near the Nashville Zoo.

This comes after more than 500,000 people signed a petition opposing the data center, over concerns that the animals at the zoo will be harmed. The ordinance, if approved, would allow Metro Government to acquire the fee interest in a parcel of property as well as purchase, take and appropriate real property within the area for any public purpose when the public convenience requires it.
