NASHVILLE, Tenn.(WSMV) – WSMV4, Nashville’s NBC affiliate owned by Gray Media, Inc., announced today that Chief Meteorologist Lisa Spencer will retire from her daily on-air duties after more than 25 years with the station.
Spencer, a cornerstone of Middle Tennessee’s weather coverage and one of the most decorated broadcast meteorologists in the region, will remain connected to the WSMV4 team following her final broadcast.
Spencer joined WSMV4 more than two decades ago after a career that took her from weekend weathercaster at WHBQ in Memphis to Chief Meteorologist in Raleigh, North Carolina, and five years at The Weather Channel in Atlanta. A native of Jackson, Tennessee, she returned home to the Southeast and built a legacy of trusted, calm, and community-centered weather coverage across Middle Tennessee.

Spencer’s career has been recognized with some of the highest honors in broadcast meteorology. She has been named “Broadcaster of the Year” by the National Weather Association and received the Award for Broadcasting Excellence from the American Meteorological Society. She has earned 12 regional Emmy Awards, including recognition for her coverage of the historic May 2010 flood, has been named “Best Weather Anchor” by the Tennessee Associated Press five times, and was awarded the Dan Miller Award for her contributions to WSMV4.
