NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A teenager was taken into custody Friday morning after authorities said he arrived at Pearl-Cohn High School with a loaded handgun.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the Evolv weapon detection system alerted staff to a firearm in the 17-year-old’s backpack as he entered the building on Friday, Sept. 25.

Officials said the senior reported the gun belonged to his father and he had forgotten it was in his bag.
The student was was charged with juvenile handgun possession and carrying a gun on school property, law enforcement said.
