NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Rain will be hard to come by for a while.
After tying the record for the longest dry stretch in recorded history for Nashville — 36 consecutive days — much of Middle Tennessee finally received some badly needed rainfall. Most of that rain fell on Friday. A little additional rain fell in select communities on Saturday and Sunday.
Take a look at the map below. It shows Doppler radar rainfall estimates from the three-day period, Friday through Sunday (today). Notice that some areas got absolutely soaked with more than two inches (e.g. downtown Nashville). Meanwhile, other spots didn’t even receive 1/4 inch.
This rain was especially welcomed given the redeveloping drought across Middle Tennessee. Check out the latest Drought Monitor map for our area, shown below. It shows that extreme drought has redeveloped in spots — parts of Bedford County and over a corridor of southwest Tennessee.
The rain we received over the last few days is not reflected in the above Drought Monitor map. That rain will be incorporated in the update we receive this coming Thursday morning…
