MMA fighter, already accused of manslaughter in Panama City Beach, is charged in Nashville assault

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. ( WMBB ) — An Illinois man accused of killing a member of the U.S. Air Force outside a Panama City Beach bar is facing a new charge in Tennessee.

Ross Allen Johnson, 24, was indicted by a grand jury in Nashville for aggravated assault and is now awaiting extradition from Oklahoma to Nashville to face the new charge.

Sources close to the case say Johnson was involved in another violent altercation at a bar involving at least one member of the coaching staff of the University of Illinois baseball team. Calls and messages sent to the University of Illinois over two days were not returned.

In a unique situation, this incident happened sometime before the April 10, 2023 altercation in Panama City Beach but Johnson is just now being charged in the case.

Johnson’s Panama City Beach manslaughter charge comes from a fight between several individuals that began inside Coyote Ugly on Front Beach Road. The participants were thrown out of the bar by security. But the fight resumed in the parking lot.
