LA VERGNE, Tenn. — A fast and coordinated emergency response helped prevent a townhome fire from spreading Tuesday afternoon, according to officials with the La Vergne Police Department. The incident unfolded at around 12:30 p.m. (April 15, 2026), officers patrolling near George Buchanan Drive in Northern Rutherford County were the first emergency responders to notice heavy smoke billowing from a nearby townhome.
Around the same time-frame, dispatchers began receiving calls reporting a possible structure fire. Officers quickly confirmed the blaze was coming from the rear of the residence and immediately moved in to assess the situation.
