Isolated severe storms today, hot weekend

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A brief severe storm risk for Saturday afternoon and evening for far northern areas. The primary focus is on the temperatures! We’ll be well above average the next few days with still a good chance to hit our first 90° day by Sunday. Storms become more likely into the upcoming week.

At 8 a.m. Saturday, the Storm Prediction Center has made some changes regarding the severe storm risk for northern Middle Tennessee & Southern Kentucky. There is now a Slight Risk (level 2/5) for parts of Southern Kentucky, and a Marginal Risk (level 1/5) extends into northern Middle Tennessee.

The main threat is wind gusts, but hail and an isolated tornado are possible.

Future Tracker is now showing some isolated severe storms possible late Saturday afternoon into the evening. We’ll keep it at 20% chances, and mainly near/north of the TN/KY line for late Saturday afternoon into the evening. The storm chances will be dependent upon the amount of daytime heating that occurs (cloud breaks and sunshine).
