Teen arrested for possession of modified gun, drugs after Cheatham County traffic stop

CHEATHAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Nashville teenager is facing multiple charges, including possession of a prohibited weapon, following a traffic stop in Cheatham County earlier this week.

According to an affidavit, shortly before 8:45 p.m. on Monday, May 11, a member of the Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office on patrol near New Hope Road smelled marijuana as a vehicle drove by. Instead of letting it go, the deputy followed the white Genesis onto Interstate 24 and performed a traffic stop.

“We call that going beyond the stop. So, basically, the officer, he just didn’t let it go with just a citation. He followed up on the odor, and that’s excellent work on the officer’s job,” Lt. Shannon Heflin told News 2…
