Strong storms possible Friday afternoon

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Marginal Risk, level 1 out of 5, has been issued for Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky for Friday until Saturday morning.

Rain has been moving across the Midstate Friday morning, but the severe threat increases this afternoon and evening. Once the sun goes down, the severe threat goes down with some rain lingering.

All modes of severe weather are possible with gusty winds and heavy rain being the main concerns. A spin-up tornado is possible.

The good news: Saturday is trending more dry. This will be your pick day of the holiday weekend with rain chances easier to dodge.

Rain chances increase again for Sunday and Monday. If you have any services or plans outside for Memorial Day, make sure to have an alternative plan indoors.

Rain chances last into next week with scattered showers and storms lingering.
