Coastal protection agency rebuts Tulane researcher’s ‘ridiculous’ sea level projection study

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The findings of a study recently published in the journal Nature Sustainability can be unsettling for people living in southeast Louisiana.

The Swedish researcher heading the study concluded that Gulf waters eventually will take over the south shore of Lake Pontchartrain, and that the City of New Orleans could be swallowed by rising seas by the end of this century.

“Ultimately, the main message of the study is New Orleans is not forever and we have to plan for our future. And we have to start planning now,” said Dr. Torbjörn Törnqvist, geology professor at Tulane University and the study’s lead author…
