Where to find great vegetarian food in New Orleans

New Orleans is known for its excellent dining and hospitality, but its most famous food typically carries a reputation for meat-studded dishes, like jambalaya, poboys and gumbo.

Why it matters: There’s a ton of fantastic vegetarian eating to be had here, too.

Zoom in: Though vegetarian dining options have improved greatly in recent years, plenty of chefs still throw a veggie burger on the menu or slap together a caprese sandwich and call it a day.

  • No thanks. That won’t cut it anymore.

Although not an exhaustive list by any means, here are my favorite go-to places for vegetarian meals in New Orleans. Most are not exclusively veggie, which makes gathering with friends even easier.
