NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — One of the many questions asked during hurricane season is, how will the power grid hold up against storms?
So ahead of the official start on June 1, Entergy displayed some of its ongoing efforts to make it more resilient.
They invited New Orleans City Councilman Eugene Green to see a new utility pole that was installed right next to an old wooden one. The replacement pole is made out of composite material that Entergy said can withstand winds up to 140 miles per hour.

“It’s part of this process of being totally prepared, expecting that potentially the worst could happen but hoping for the best,” Green said. “So, in this particular instance, there could be winds of 140 miles an hour plus, and you’re not going to have poles snapping, and you’re not going to have poles breaking in half.”…
