Tsunami Sushi closes in New Orleans amid bankruptcy. A new restaurant could replace it.

Tsunami Sushi made a splash when it came to New Orleans in 2017. The brand was already well known around Louisiana and its arrival planted a sprawling and modern restaurant in the heart of downtown.

Now it has quietly closed as the Tsunami brand statewide navigates a bankruptcy reorganization.

The restaurant is in the ground floor of the Pan American Life Center high rise, at the corner of Poydras and Canal. The dining room is now barren of tables and chairs and the bar and kitchen are empty.

Representatives of the restaurant could not be reached for comment, but Gaines Seaman, senior advisor at Stirling Properties for the building, confirmed the restaurant has closed. He said the restaurant owners are in talks with a potential new operator to take over the space, though the deal is not yet finalized…
