Delta Sigma Theta River Parishes alums host inaugural debutante cotillion

The River Parishes Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority celebrated its Inaugural Royal Debutante Cotillion recently at Chateau Golf and Country Club in Kenner.

The evening was the culmination of a monthslong program for young ladies in their junior and senior years of high school that honored academic and leadership achievements while enhancing their social, cultural and civic awareness.

Highlighting the evening’s presentation, Miss Miya Jasmin Jackson, daughter of Mr. Michael Jackson Jr. and Mrs. Erica Jackson of LaPlace, was crowned royal cotillion queen. She is a senior at Mount Carmel Academy, earning placement on the principal’s honor roll and honor roll. She plans to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in the fall to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering.
