New Orleans was under a tornado warning until 6:15 a.m. after radar showed a possible tornado in the Metairie area moving toward the city, according to ta 6 a.m. bulletin from the National Weather Service.
The rotation was confirmed near Metairie at 5:55 a.m. and was moving northeast at 25 mph.
The impacted area includes Interstate 610 between mile markers 2 and 3, the NHC said, near the City Park and Lakeview areas.
