Forecasters record 10th tornado that spawned in southeast Louisiana, Mississippi during Arthur

National Weather Service forecasters on Monday afternoon released details about a tenth recorded tornado that spawned over southeast Louisiana and Mississippi as Tropical Storm Arthur pounded the region last week.

The additional tornado happened in Slidell around 6:49 a.m. Thursday, touching down in Eden Isles before moving east. Officials said the twister was ranked as an EF0 with estimated winds peaking around 80 mph.

The tornado, one of two that hit near Eden Isles, remained on the ground for around 9 minutes, damaging businesses and scattering branches and debris as it crossed Interstate-10 over to Lakeshore Village, according to NWS officials. Residents reported tree limbs narrowly missing homes.
