WESTWEGO, La. (WGNO) — The Jefferson Parish School Board, on Monday, June 22, opened a new transportation complex in Westwego.
The facility, located on Bridge City Avenue, is a major investment, according to parish officials. It was designed with the goals of:
- Strengthening student safety
- Improving transportation efficiency
- Supporting the employees who keep students moving each day
The facility is expected to enhance district transportation operations while helping to ensure Jefferson Parish students receive safe, reliable bus service.

“All things work together in terms of educating children, and it’s very important to be able to not only see education from a classroom perspective, but also from a transportation perspective. So all of those things go together to make us successful Jefferson parish,” said Chief Operations Officer Patrick Jenkins.
