Kenner man arrested after 54 dogs rescued from suspected illegal breeding operation

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Authorities said 54 dogs were rescued from a suspected illegal dog breeding operation at a home in the 3500 block of Arizona Avenue, and a Kenner man was arrested on 55 counts of cruelty to animals.

The Kenner Police Department said officers and Jefferson Protection & Animal Welfare Services visited the home on June 22, 2026, following an investigation into the alleged breeding operation.

Inside, authorities said they found 54 living Australian Shepherd dogs and one deceased puppy. Many of the dogs were living in unsanitary conditions and appeared neglected, including matted fur and flea infestations. Multiple litters of puppies were also found inside the home, authorities said…
