In the year that marks the 250th anniversary of the founding of the U.S., New Orleans native Karen Riley Simmons, who was displaced by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, plans to return home this summer.
“Although Alexandria has been a great home for me and for my family, home always had that pull, and I always intended to go back,” she said during an interview at Tamp & Grind coffee shop in downtown Alexandria.
