Rock of Ages has purchased the New Orleans church its packs each Sunday: ‘We kept growing.’

It wasn’t so long ago that the chickens would threaten to drown out the Sunday services at Rock of Ages Baptist Church.

So small was the congregation, and so loud were the neighbor’s chickens that the Rev. Jonathan Everett joked there were times he wished he could have taught them to cluck their way through “Amazing Grace.”

Everett can laugh at the memory now. The congregation that once numbered only a handful inside the old Rock of Ages church building on North Tonti Street in New Orleans has grown exponentially. And during the 9:15 a.m. Sunday service on July 5, Rock of Ages announced that it had signed the paperwork for a $4 million purchase of the 70,000-square-foot campus it has worshipped in for the last two years…
