New Orleans’ Krewe of Oshun king and queen announced

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The Krewe of Oshun announced its king and queen Monday, July 20.

According to a news release, Quoc Nguyen and Amanda Nguyen were selected as the krewe’s 31st king and queen. They will reign over the Krewe’s 2027 parade on Friday, Jan. 29.

Southeast Louisiana parishes announce preparations for tropical weather

Krewe officials say this marks the first time an Asian American king and queen have reigned together over a New Orleans Mardi Gras Krewe and parade. They will be crowned at the Krewe of Oshun Coronation on Saturday, Aug. 15, at 6:00 p.m. at Commander’s Palace.

Krewe officials said the 2027 parade will roll under the theme “Jewels of the River,” aiming to honor the waterway that has carried people, commerce and culture to New Orleans…
